This print comes from the leading work DESCRIPTION DE L'EGYPTE at the time. This work consisted of 13 parts with 892 plates. A special press has been built to make the large prints. Two editions of 1,000 copies have been published.

This engraving is from the 2nd edition known as “Royal Edition”. At the top right, the mark is stamped into the paper, which states: Egypt ancienne et moderne ”C.-L.-F. Panckoucke (Paris).
