A very attractive print depicting the Siege of Alkmaar in 1573, during the Eighty Years' War. Around the city you can see the dikes and the villages Ouddorp and Huiswaard. In the foreground the army receiving blessings before the battle, and a drawing of a mobile drawbridge. This print is from "Geschiedenissen der Vereenigde Nederlanden, sedert den aanvang van die Republyk..." by J. Le Clerc.

This copperplate engraving is in good condition. A nice printing quality. Original folding line.
