He became in 1543 Royal Geographer. Since then he only worked as mapmaker. He used the New Mathods of mapmaking, First to make maps of the dutch regions (gewesten) later he made only townplans. Special of his work is that he engraved every church and town profile realistic on his maps. He used a double press technic: one woodblock for the topographic lines and one for the geographical names. |
