Captain Clement Lempriere may have come to England from Jersey where the name is very prevalent. He worked for the Office of the Ordnance drawing maps and seascpapes, boats and coasts. Some of his lovely work is posted on the internet. Our link to Clement Lempriere...One of my ancestors, Sarah Mist, was married to one of the pioneers of the English Landscape Garden Movement in 1717. C. Bridgeman was royal gardner to King George II. He died in 1738, and Sarah died in 1743. In her will she names her "loving friend, Captain Clement Lempriere of the Tower of London" as one of her executors. In the 1700's the Office of Ordnance was located in the Tower of London. Captain C. never did fulfill the role as executor to our Sarah's will and he died in 1746. We appreciate the information posted on the internet. Submitted by Judy Fleming (nee MIst) Thornhill, Ontario, Canada |
